Bodice Toile – 11th June 2:30 – 5:30pm

This is a follow on class to our fit masterclass demonstration. Suitable for sewists who would like to make a simple top to fit them perfectly.

Students will make a toile of the Claire top with basic sleeve and make any alterations needed to it during the class. The class is will be a small number of student to ensure individual attention.

Our tutor Sheila O’Kelly has extensive experience with fitting patterns and will show you through demonstrations how she resolves fit issues in tops.

Calico and a full printed copy of the Claire Top will be provided. We ask students to bring their own thread and basic sewing kit, including a dressmaking scissors, paper scissors, marking tools and pins.

Tea or coffee will be provided, we ask everyone to bring their own mug, with lid if possible.

By the end of the course you will

• be able to compare your measurements to pattern measurements
• be able to compare your measurements to pattern paper pieces
• understand the purpose of a muslin
• know when and adjustment is needed or will altering seam allowance be enough?
• Know how to do a forward shoulder adjustment
• Know how to do a narrow shoulder adjustment
• Know how to do a full/small bust adjustment
• Know how to do a biceps adjustment
• Know how to do a length adjustment
• Know how to do a gaping neck adjustment
• Know how to do a lower/raise dart
• make a toile using the techniques learned above.
