Curved Piecing Workshop – Spring

Curved patchwork is an intricate technique giving a dynamic effect to the finish quilt. While this technique is look difficult there will be simpler options. With a Spring theme in mind our patchwork reacher Lena has created several designs specifically for this workshop. It is recommend that you have done some patchwork or machine sewing before starting this project.
Taught by Lena who lives in Dublin, her husband and two daughters. She grew up and spent most of my life in Kharkov, Ukraine, where she studied and worked as an English teacher at university. Lena also studied in an art school as a teenager and tried many art and craft forms before she took up patchwork and quilting.
Since moving to Ireland Lena dedicated herself to art and design, graduating with a BA in Graphic Design and honing her drawing and quilting skills to develop her own personal style. You can find out more about her work here
Suitable for beginners with a few projects under their belts to more intermediate sewists. This course would also be useful to students attend third level textile and art education. Teaching will be tailored to participant’s individual needs.

During the course participants will :
- know what fabric to choose for curved piecing.
- understand how how to pair fabric pattern volume with each piece of the design
- learn how to sew two curved pieces of fabric together.
- learn how to press curved piecing correctly.
- know how to quilt a ‘top’
- know how to add a hanging sleeve.
- learn how to bind a mini quilt
Dates: Saturday 18th February
Time: 10am – 5pm (incl 1 hr lunch break)
Duration: 6hrs over 1 day
Location: Crafty Studio, 2a Prospect Ave, Harts Corner, Glasnevin Dublin 9.
Some materials will be provided but others may need to by bought to create you desired motif.
A basic sewing kit of fabric scissors, pins and thread will be needed. We can provide a sewing machine but do bring your own if possible.
All students will be given a 10% discount coupon to use in shop and online.
