Ever wanted to make your own clothes? Learn how to make your own garment in one day workshops. This class is aimed at the improver to intermediate sewists who want to learn to Jackets. The Pona Jacket is a good introduction to Jacket making. It is unlined and has a notched lapel. The relaxed fit allows the sewist to focus on construction techniques rather than fit.

This mini course over 7hrs on a  Saturday , with a break for lunch. Tea or coffee will be provided, we ask everyone to bring their own mug.

A printed pattern will be posted to you before the class begins. You will need to cut this out before attending the class. If you opt for click and collect please do so in enough time to cut your pattern.

All students will be given 10% off fabric and supplies.

We recommend that you use your own sewing machine, but if you do not have one you can opt to hire one for class. Please select the with machine option in the drop down menu. You must have some experience and be very familiar with a sewing machine to attend this class.

By the end of the course students will

  • know how to sew the notched lapels.
  • know how to make and sew the patched pockets.
  • know how to inset sleeves.
  • understand the importance of understitching.
  • Learn how to manage a facing.
  • know how to measure mark and sew hems
  • be able to finish a wearable garment.
