Portrait in Charcoal for Beginners 22nd July

In this 1 day workshop participants will create a portrait in charcoal based on a portrait painting by a famous artist. It is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Format:

Lessons will take place in the purpose made teaching space at Crafty Studio, Glasnevin

During the class students will:

• Learn through studying a painting by a famous artist.
• Use charcoal/soft drawing materials on a toned drawing surface.
• Practice modelling form using simple tools.
• Learn how to construct the features of the face
• Produce a portrait based on the painting that is further informed through exploring the facial features, the lighting, and that leverages the properties of the medium.

Drawing supplies will be provided for use during the day.  Participants are also encouraged to bring their own.  A suggested supply list will be sent out closer to the date.
