Join Lynn Kennedy for an engaging one-day workshop exploring the art of portrait painting, inspired by the techniques of John Singer Sargent. Under Lynn’s guidance, you’ll create an oil study from start to finish, honing essential skills to achieve accurate proportions, tonal depth, and a strong likeness.

Students will;

  • Learn how to achieve correct proportions in an initial sketch and layout.
  • Create a strong tonal underpainting as the foundation for your portrait.
  • Explore colour, building surface and form.
  • Add detail and refine your work to bring your portrait to life.
This workshop offers a supportive environment for artists of all levels to develop their skills and creativity. By the end of the session, you’ll feel confident in your ability to approach portraiture with the knowledge and techniques needed to create convincing, lifelike works.
