Textile Landscapes – Jan 17th – 11 – 4pm

Make your own piece of textile art in our textile landscape workshop. In this workshop you will learn how to represent a landscape image, you may bring your own, into fabric and thread. Through the manipulation of fabric and layering of different stitches your art piece will come together one stitch at a time.

Our textiles tutor Sandra Reynolds has has 28yrs experience as an artist and teacher and will guide you through each step. Sandra received a City and Guilds qualification in Textiles and Embroidery and has been exhibiting and selling her work throughout Ireland. She can be found here on her instagram account.

The course will run over one day,  tea and coffee will be provided. We encourage students to bring their own keep cup.

All patterns, materials and tools will be provided for the students use during class.

Project: Embroidered landscape using mixed media

Dates:  Sat 17th Jan 11am – 4pm

Location: Crafty Studio 2a Prospect Ave Glasnevin. Free on street parking is available on Sundays on Prospect Square.

Below is a list of the learning outcomes of the course.

By the end of the course you will;

  • understand the different fabric and thread used in creative embroidery.
  • have an understanding of the colour wheel in regards to fabric and thread colour.
  • know how to select colours that work well together.
  • understand several different basic stitches.
  • understand different fabric manipulation techniques.
  • know how to use combine these stitches and techniques to create different effects.
  • know how to transfer a design before stitching.
  • understand the possibilities of different media and materials in creative embroidery.
  • know how to prepare and embroidery for framing.
