Beginners Sewing Workshop – Patchwork Cushion – 18th April

Make your own patchwork cushion. Following a patchwork pattern, you will make a mini quilt and turn it into a cusion in one workshop.

The course will run over one day,  tea and coffee will be provided. We encourage students to bring their own keep cup.

The printed pattern will be provided and a fabric kit with everything you need for the quilt top can be purchased. All students will get 10% discount for supplies on the day. We have sewing machines for your use in class but if you are bringing your own please do let us know.

Level: Beginner to intermediate

Dates:  Saturday  18th April 11am – 4:30pm

Location: Crafty Studio 2a Prospect Ave Glasnevin. Free on street parking is available on Sundays on Prospect Square.

Below is a list of the learning outcomes of the course.

By the end of the course you will;

• know how to cut fabric using a quilting ruler
• know how to follow a quilting pattern.
• know how to sew a quarter inch seam allowance.
• know how to nest seams.
• know how to make half square triangles.
• know how to make a cushion
• have an understanding of how a quilt top is basted and finished.

Materials Needed

• Sewing machine (can be hired for €15)
• selection of cotton fabric
• 1/2m background fabric
• cotton thread
• Batting
