The ENCIRCLE Pouch is a modern pouch pattern with a circular front and back panel wrapped by a curved gusset. It has a simple drawstring closure and can be provided with slip and/or elasticated pockets both externally and internally. Make yourself a practical set of pouches with a clean, graphic aesthetic and an interesting method of construction. Beautiful and a seriously enjoyable sew! Sizes? There are four sizes, Mini, Small, Medium & Large, with strap and pocket options to play with. Pockets? Externally and internally you can choose to add a Circle Slip Pocket and/or a Circle Elastic Pocket. Straps? The medium and large sizes can be provided with either a side strap or a pair of hand straps. (The large ENCIRCLE Pouch makes for a lovely, compact project bag!) The lining and outer bags are made using the same construction method, keeping it simple while at the same time giving you options to play with.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

The ENCIRCLE Pouch construction is straightforward but a little unusual – the trickiest element in making the ENCIRCLE Pouch is handling the curve of the front and back circles, the mini size being the trickiest. The drawstring closure is a lovely and easy closure technique to learn and the pattern also includes and elasticated and a slip pocket. The lining and outer bags are made with the same construction, with pocket options that can be used internally and externally.

During the course participants will learn :

- how to prepare and sew a bag using a paper pattern
- how to prepare a slip pocket
- how to prepare an elasticated pocket.
- know how to attach straps
- about appropriate interfacing
- how to make a drawstring closure.
- how to neatly sew curved seams.
- the joys of birthing a bag!
- how to neatly sew the lining closure with a ladder stitch.

Date: Sat 28th Feb

Time: 10:30am – 4:30pm (incl. 1 hr lunch break)

Duration: 5hrs over 1 day

Location: Crafty Studio, 2a Prospect Ave, Harts Corner, Glasnevin Dublin 9.

Each student will receive an A0 print of the ENCIRCLE Pouch to use during class, and a digital copy with instructions for future use. We stock a selection of bag making materials, which are available to purchase with a 10% discount to students. Please click here to see the suggested fabrics and amounts needed.

In a bid to be more sustainable and to keep cost down we ask all students to bring your own keep cup/mug and take away any non recyclable waste.

Please bring a fabric scissors and pins if you have them. Sewing machines are available to use but must be requested in advance, a fee of 10e applies to hiring a machine for class.
