Marie Le Men is a French artist based in Dublin. She specializes in figurative art and has exhibited in the National Gallery and the RUA amongst others. She teaches figure drawing and watercolour techniques at RHA, Schoolhouse for Art, Crafty Studio to adults and teens.
This course designed to develop your observational drawing practice, providing solid foundation for your paintings and sketches in watercolour. We will learn how pigments mix and respond to different papers, allowing us to create contrast and various effects. Through a variety of forms, you will learn to adapt your skills to any subject, giving volume and depth to your representations of nature, whether objects or landscapes. We will also develop a greater understanding of perspective, depth and composition through thumbnails and speed sketching a number of subjects.

- Colour mixing
- Basic techniques (glazing, washes, transitions, edges, mopping, erasing, salt, scratching, preserving whites, etc)
- Working with values (shading) – Choice of materials

colour theory: how to associate colours, darken, lighten, neutralise, create contrast.
- learn to draw perspective and architecture

Sketching techniques: varying textures and linework to create interest: trees, foliage, grass, bricks, stones, paths, windows
