Hemstitch Schmetz Sewing Machine Needles – Size 16

Using this needle you can create beautiful heirloom hemstitching just like the historical hand techniques of the past. Usually one would use a linen or a heavy weight 100% cotton material for heirloom sewing.

Because the needle has two wings, and as it pushes through the material it creates a larger hole than regular needles. The hemstitching holes remain distinct and the sewn pattern will be well-defined. Even a plain zig-zag stitch will look fantastic when using the wing needles. But if your machine has honeycomb or a blanket stitch, they particularly look very effective.

These needles are suitable for all domestic sewing machines. Once I have selected the desired stitch, I tend to sew a stitch or two by hand, just to make sure the wings are not going to bash in to the needle plate.

The needle code is: 130/705H also known as 15×1 where the shank is flat one side and round the other.
